Five from Stanford are named 2018 Sloan Research Fellows

Five faculty members from Stanford have been named 2018 Sloan Research Fellows.

The fellowships, awarded yearly since 1955, honor early-career scholars whose achievements mark them as among the very best scientific minds working today, according to the press release issued by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.

The five Stanford recipients are among 126 U.S. and Canadian researchers who will receive a two-year, $65,000 fellowship to be used as they wish to further their research.

The Stanford recipients are:

GORDON WETZSTEIN, assistant professor of electrical engineering
ARUN CHANDRASEKHAR, assistant professor of economics
MATTEO CARGNELLO, assistant professor of chemical engineering
JULIA PALACIOS, assistant professor of statistics and of biomedical data science
DANIEL YAMINS, assistant professor of psychology
